You'll gain comprehensive knowledge of the construction industry, electrical fundamentals, DC circuits, applied mathematics for electrical work, electrical codes and regulations, safe use of electrical tools and materials, and troubleshooting skills. The program emphasizes health, safety, and environmental awareness throughout all coursework.
Upon successful completion, you'll earn three industry-recognized certifications: OSHA 10 (Occupational Safety and Health Administration), NCCER Core (National Center for Construction Education and Research), and NCCER Electrical Level 1. These certifications are highly valued by employers in the electrical trades.
There are no specific academic prerequisites. However, basic math skills and a strong commitment to learning are recommended. All students must be able to work safely in a laboratory environment and follow all safety protocols.
Classes are held at the MDC North Campus, with in-person laboratory sessions at the Construction Lab. Online self-paced modules can be completed from any location with internet access.
Graduates are prepared for entry-level positions in the electrical trades, including electrician helper, apprentice electrician, and construction assistant roles. The NCCER and OSHA certifications significantly enhance your employability and earning potential in the electrical industry.
