About EKG Technician Certification


  • Students will learn about the cardiac and vascular systems, communication skills, human anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, patient care techniques, interpretation of monitoring and testing results and medical instrumentation. While performing noninvasive procedures, an Electrocardiography Technician (EKG Technician) analyzes the rhythm of the heart; and provides a systematic analysis of the rate of the atrial and ventricles, P-waves, P-R interval, QRS complex and others.

NEKG Technicians are employed across South Florida's healthcare network, including hospitals, cardiology practices, outpatient clinics, urgent care centers, and diagnostic laboratories. Cardiac care is a consistently in-demand specialty throughout Miami-Dade County.

It's one of the most accessible entry points into allied health, offering a relatively short training pathway into clinical work. Many EKG Technicians later advance into roles such as cardiovascular technologist, telemetry technician, or other patient care specialties.
